Who, what and why?
I am Laura – Product Designer, with a background in graphic design and photography.
In visual design I highly value the content delivered for users. As we are emerged with beautiful visuals around us daily, I believe, my purpose as a designer under today’s circumstances, is to figure out the problem we want to solve. Therefore I start by asking why and for who.
The great drift and why it was necessary?
But a bit about my background as well.
When I started out as a graphic designer about 15 years ago, the idea of a user experience design was not as widely known as it is now. I continued my BA and MA in Fine Art and Photography, where I used research-based methodologies to study and visualize other people’s stories. During this time I took part in various residencies and initiated several international projects and exhibitions through the universities. I also worked as a teacher and mentor – organizing events, courses and collaborations. Because of this journey, I am highly driven and self-motivated and I know how to work academically, yet to keep my work grounded and differentiate between emotional and rational decisions.
what sparks your fire?
Fast forward and here we are.
User experience and interface design brought together two of my passions in life – creative design and building something together with other people. As a designer, I have worked on various projects that range from web design, and mobile applications to brand design. I believe a design should be user-centred, and it should solve real-world problems. I find inspiration from the world around us – patterns, nature, and systems (natural and artificial) and use my knowledge of art history and current design trends to create balanced and appealing designs.
